It covers recent developments in science and medicine.

 

Whenever possible, BrainiYak provides specific citations and links to original and authoritative sources.

 

I usually also include quotations from scientific papers, as well as from lay reports about the same studies.

 

The intent is to acquaint interested students and readers with both kinds of writing.  And to diminish the intimidation factor that so many people experience, when reading scientific and medical jargon.

 

Communicating science understandably, without dumbing it down, is a challenge.  American culture fails more often than it succeeds at this.  This blog is my attempt to fill some of that hole.

 

Unlike the majority of news media reporting, I frequently comment regarding scientific methodology and contextual meaning.
